MxN Multimode Star Coupler Up to 32INx32OUT


MxN multimode star coupler are designed for use in fiber optic local area networks, industrial control, sensing, data acquisition and data distribution systems. The application ranges from data communications, medical to military, commercial aircraft to railway and from down to earth industrial to satellites in orbit.

Optimum performance and operations under adverse environmental conditions are achieved through licensed use of fused bi-conical taper coupler patents, with proprietary refinements combined with rigorous quality control.

All couplers are monolithic, non-concatenated design, manufactured with FBT (Fused Biconic Taper) technology, providing highest reliability. Coupling ratio for 1*2, 2*2 splitter range from 1% to 50%. Star couplers (from 1*3 up to 32*32) typically have even split ratio among all output ports.

Suggestion:

1 Usually large size fiber allows higher energy to be transmitted.

2 PLCvs FBT Technology:

PLC is based on semiconductor technology and suitable for mass production of single mode coupler.

--The quantity of output ports cannot be odd.

--The coupling ratio has to be even, for example coupling ratio of 95:5 is not available for PLC

--Limited energy transmittion

FBT is suitable for multi mode, with more flexibility and no initial complexity on development.

--The quantity of output ports can be odd or even.

--The coupling ratio can be any from 1:99 to 50:50

--High power combiner is available up to KW level per input.

Multimode star coupler can be customer designed for special application, such as high temepoature, fuel fluid resistance, low out-gassing, eye safe etc.
